Your memorable experience starts in front of Vatican Museums by the steps, where you will meet our friendly staff. Our tour starts early in the morning, at 7.15 AM, prior to the opening to the general public at 9 AM.
Before getting access to the Vatican Museums with priority entrance, your guide will describe the masterpieces by Michelangelo well preserved in the Sistine Chapel: the Ceiling and the Last Judgment.
You will benefit from priority entrance at 8 AM, before the daily crowds. You will explore Vatican Museums’ must sees such as Gallery of Candelabra, Gallery of Maps and Gallery of Tapestry.
After your visit to Vatican Museums, Vatican local staff will escort you to Vatican Station located in Vatican City, where you will take the special train that reaches Pope’s Summer Residence in Castel Gandolfo.
You will learn anecdotes and interesting stories about Popes and Roman emperors who decided to spend their free time away from the heat of Roman Summer days.
You will begin with your visit to Pope’s villa in Castel Gandolfo with the charming Barberini Gardens. You will explore them for about 1 hour on an ecological open bus: admire the lovely Papal Gardens while listening to your audioguide to discover the most beautiful highlights!
After the Gardens tour, you will have time to visit the Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo, designed by Carlo Maderno, who also worked on the project of St. Peter’s Basilica.
Finally, you will have free time to walk at your own pace through the alleys of Castel Gandolfo, a wonderful town which benefits from an uphill location which you can admire panoramic views of Lake Albano below.
In the afternoon, you will return to Rome again by train from Castel Gandolfo Station.
