Pitti Palace is huge and is divided in different sections. The first is the Palatine Gallery, with a wide collection of 16th and 17th centuries paintings from painters like Rubens, Titian and Raphael. Another section hosts the Royal Apartments where the family lived and explain the history of the Medici and of Florence.
On the ground floor you will enter the Silver Museum, displaying a big collection of precious items of the Medici Family, while on the highest floor you can see the Modern Art Gallery, with paintings of Tuscan artist of the 19th and 20th centuries. If you are interested you can ask your guide to modify the itinerary and visit the Costume Gallery, the only museum in Italy about the history of Italian fashions, displaying theatrical costumes from the 16th century to the present. Just a few minutes walking and you will enter the Boboli Gardens to discover one of the greatest Renaissance parks, adorned with beautiful statues and fountains from the 16th century to the 18th century. Its statues, fountains, buildings and ancient trees were an inspiration for several other European gardens. Walking inside the Boboli Gardens your guide will show you the different areas of the park: the Amphitheatre, the Viottolone, the Tower of the Koffeehouse, the Great Grotto and the Knight’s Garden, hosting the Museum of Porcelain, which contains an amazing collection of pieces coming from all over Europe. They were either gifted to the Florentine Rulers from European Courts or commissioned directly by the Grand Ducal Court to the best porcelain factories.
