Tour Description

If you have already been to Rome or if you have already seen and visited the main highlights of our beautiful city, choose a private guided tour of the off beaten track of Rome! Join with your whole family our private guide on our Kids Private Tour of the Colosseum and Underground Rome and you will walk down the different layers of history hidden underneath St. Clemente’s Church, dating back to thousands of centuries. Going down St. Clemente’s undergrounds will be like a journey through time: you will even walk in a roman house from the end of the first century!

Your 3 hour tour starts meeting your private child-oriented guide at the Arch of Constantine near the Colosseum. In a few minutes walking you will reach the Colosseum where you will get access with our pre purchased access. Your kids will be left with their mouths open as the guide will interactively tell them about Ancient Rome, about Gladiator Battles, Pagan gods, Roman building techniques, Roman emperors and senators. Your guide will use 3D overlay books or the iPad to entertain the whole family from the littlest to the biggest member and bring the history back to life! From the first level of the Colosseum you will enjoy a panoramic view on archaeological area of the Roman Forum, with its impressive temples and arches still standing after many centuries, before heading to the Ludus Magnus, the place where the Gladiators used to prepare for their combacts.
You will then proceed to the beautiful St. Clemente’s Basilica. First an elegant house from Ancient times, this building was later turned into a workshop for coin minting. In the 2nd century one portion of the house became a Pagan school worshiping the God Mithra, while it only became a Christian Basilica in the IV century. Your guide will lead your family through the underground levels of St. Clemente’s, going about 45 feet below, where ruins of the Ancient Roman House are still visible. Your adventure will continue to the upper level about 15 feet below the ground level to discover an Early Christian basilica from the 4th century A.D. with beautiful frescoes from the IX to the XI centuries. Your last stop will be in the higher level, St. Clemente’s Church, where you will admire beautiful golden mosaics.

This Kids Private Tour of Colosseum and Underground Rome will be an unforgettable way to experience Ancient Rome for the whole family. We guarantee you that it will be like travel among centuries!
