Located in the heart of Venice, right in a Church, the Music Museum is one of the most beautiful and unfortunately underrated museums in Venice. This museum doesn’t have an admission fee and it was built with the help of the conservatory Benedetto Marcello in Venice. It houses over 150 instruments that date back to the XVI century.

Let’s find out something more about Museo della Musica in Venice and why you should visit it!

A symphony of instruments: the diverse collection

Museo della Musica houses instruments belonging to schools and shops that beautifully narrate the XVIII century music. As previously mentioned, it houses over 150 instruments, among which you will be able to find violins, violas, cellos, double basses, mandolins, flutes, harps and much more. The museum also houses an exhibition focused on Antonio Vivaldi, a famous composer that made a big mark on Baroque music in the whole world that was born in Venice in the XVII century.

Everything is housed in the neoclassical Church of San Maurizio. This Church was designed by architect Giannantonio Selva in 1806. He’s the same architect that designed Teatro La Fenice.
