Archaeology and Baroque Rome in a day is the right tour for you! You will hit the most important monuments of Ancient Rome, such as the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, while discovering also the beautiful and elegant Baroque squares and fountains scattered throughout the city centre.
You will enter the Colosseum with our pre-booked access. Once inside you will visit the impressive amphitheater with your guide, to see the place where famous gladiators did several combats against lions and tigers or against other gladiators. Your private guide will tell you all about the history of the Colosseum, the life of the gladiators, the power of the senators and emperors. You will then head to the Roman Forum, once the core of life in Ancient Rome. The Forum was the main square where all important events, such as markets, processions, public speeches and trails, used to take place. Here you will admire the stunning ruins of Ancient Roman buildings.
Your next stop will be the Capitol Hill. This is the place where the citadel of the early inhabitants of Ancient Rome was located. Today the building hosts the city hall and the Mayor of Rome. Here you will also admire the fabulous square designed by Michelangelo, hosting in its centre a copy of the beautiful bronze statue depicting Marcus Aurelius riding his horse. The original statue is hosted inside the Capitoline Museums.
Following the itinerary of your tour you will begin the discovery of Baroque Rome. You will stop at the most iconic locations in Rome, such as Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pietra Square and the Pantheon. Afterwards, you will hit some of the most beautiful churches in Rome. You will visit the Church of St. Ignatius with its fake dome but also the Church of St. Luis of the French, where amazing paintings by Caravaggio are preserved. The last stop of your tour will be Navona Square, where you will admire one of Bernini’s masterpieces: the Fountain of the Four Rivers.
