Tour Description

Enjoy Florence Private Walking Tour to tour at your own pace and see all the highlights of Florence in just 3 hours with one of our local English-speaking private guides to tell you everything you need to know about this absolutely gorgeous city!

You will meet our guide at the entrance to the Academy Museums. Skip the line and once inside the Academy Museums, you will marvel at the impressive statue of David by Michelangelo and the prisoners, carved for the tomb of the Pope Julius II. This statue, one of the symbols of Florence, was first set in Piazza della Signoria, then removed in the 19th century and moved to the Academy Gallery, to allow its conservation. Your guide will help you to discover the techniques Renaissance artists used, such as preparing the beautiful “bozzetto” (plaster works) before the final work and even how such huge statues were delivered! Other works you can admire during your Florence Private Walking Tour are Florentine paintings from the 15th and 16th centuries, by artists like Sandro Botticelli, as well as Giambologna’s original plaster for the Rape of the Sabine Women. The original masterpiece by Giambologna can be seen in the “Loggia della Signoria,” a small building on one side of Signoria Square.

After discovering the art and history of Florence, it is time to visit the religious soul of the city. From the Academy Gallery you will proceed with your guide to the stunning Duomo of Florence, the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Flower. Inside the Cathedral you will see many Renasseince artworks and the amazing frescoes on the cathedral’s dome. You will be blown away by the Duomo’s impressive Cupola and Bell Tower and unique exterior decorations, made with white, pink and dark green marbles.

Your 3 hour private walking tour will continue with a small stop in the Straw Market and the Old Bridge (known as Ponte Vecchio in Italian), where your private guide will introduce you to Florence’s medieval past. You will then proceed to Signoria Square, adorned with beautiful statues where you will learn all about the political history of Florence, including the role of the famous Medici family in Renaissance Florentine art and history.

This tour will make you Florence greatest master. There is no chance you will regret it. Just contact us and book our Florence Private Walking Tour now!
