Find out all about the life of St. Paul in Rome following the footsteps of the Apostle Paul in Rome! St. Paul was one of the twelve apostles: he came several times to the Eternal City and many relevant episodes of his life happened in Rome. Travel back in time to the Roman Times and learn all about St. Paul.

You will have the unmissable chance to walk through the same places where Paul and other early Christians lived, preached, and faced persecution to travel back in time to the roots of the faith.

Your tour will start from the ancient Mamertine prison, which is located next to the Roman Forum. According to Christian tradition, St. Paul and St. Peter spent time as prisoners there under Nero’s Emperor reign. Learn all about the struggles faced by early Christians and witness the cells where their faith was tested.

Next you will explore the Vatican Basilica of St. Paul outside the Walls, known to be the burial place of the Apostle. The Basilica is adorned with stunning golden mosaics. Admire its Holy Door, which opens every 25 years for the Jubilee Year.

Your path along the Footsteps of St. Paul will take you to the last stop of the tour: the Church of Santa Maria in Via Lata, built on preexisting roman constructions brought to the light. Explore the undergrounds of the Church and the roman rooms where Sant Paul was imprisoned for 2 years, before his final breath.

Discover the underground chambers where Paul is believed to have lived and preached during his time in Rome. Gain insight into the challenges faced by early Christians as you walk through ancient Roman rooms.

Please note: In case the Church of Santa Maria in Via Lata is not visitable on the day of the tour, you will visit another remarkable landmark related to life of Santi Paul: the Abbey of Three Fountains known as the church of the Martyrium. See the pillar where Sant Paul was bound and beheaded, his head bounced three times generating three springs of water was called “Aquae Salviae”.
