Varenna is a town located in the province of Lecco. This town has only 700 inhabitants and is 20 minutes from the city. It is one of the most picturesque towns in the area. One of the first testimonies of this town is from 769 this town was known as the small town of fishermen.
The historic center of this beautiful town is full of art and culture. Here we can visit many of the religious treasures such as the buildings, frescoes and the Church of San Giovanni Battista.
The Walk of Lovers
Starting from the dock on Lake Como, the city is reached via a promenade. This pedestrian path for many years has become an attraction for tourists from all over the world, it is known as the “lovers walk”. This path runs from the lake to the center of the town of Varenna and along the way you will be able to admire the Castle of Vezio, it is undoubtedly a charming and romantic experience for any couple.
